In these times of “gigantism”, where everything takes proportions that escape our understanding, where information is dispensed with a requirement of immediacy in a global perimeter, where everything seems to be thought to reach the conquest of the infinitely large, it seems that art is on the way to meet a new challenge.
The umbrella pine, the subject of the sundial, is the result of research, observation and the production of coherent sets, dictated by this craftsman’s interest in science and botany.
The umbrella pine that stands out was chosen among the trees of the collection “36 examples of trees” for its symbolism of serenity and security, and its evocation of the sun of Mediterranean countries. The “parasol” shape of this tree benefits from an interesting variable geometry explanation since it comes from the combination between the vertical direction of the axes and the equivalent growth of the trunk and branches.
